Diamond Taylor Arrested On a DUI Charge

November 21st, 2012 at 3:06 pm

Ever hear the saying “diamonds are a girl’s best friend?” Well, in this case the old proverb might far from the truth, as Southern Illinois Guard Diamond Taylor was arrested on DUI charges, which led to a suspension from the Southern Illinois Salukis. Sportingnews.com reported a story about this diamond in the rough.

Taylor was arrested in September 2012 on DUI charges, which led to coach Barry Hinson placing Taylor under indefinite suspension from the Southern Illinois Salukis. Hinson said in the school’s release about the matter that he is extremely disappointed in Diamond. “We’re in the business of educating student-athletes and teaching them how to conduct themselves on and off court, and this is a significant setback,” Hinson continued.

The coach said he met with Diamond and issued a challenge to him to become a first-class student and resident for Carbondale, and how the situation develops would be up to Diamond and it would determine his status in the team. Taylor was in the starting line-up for nine games last season. He is a junior from Bollingbrook, Illinois, and he played at Wisconsin before he transferred to Southern Illinois University.
